Flowers are pale lilac on short spikes in summer followed by black berries in fall. Spreads by underground rhizomes forming a mat over time to approximately 12β high and wide in part sun to sun. Tolerates some summer drought and accepts summer water. Evergreen in USDA zone 7 and frost hardy in zone 4.
