Yucca rostrata 21.0104 - Black Gap, TX collection
From the Big Bend region of Texas this colony, forming the northernmost habitat for the species and the only one in the United States, gives a beautiful cast to the entire landscape. Growing to over 10-12 ft, occasionally branching into small trees with 4-5 ft rosettes, they are truly a stunning creature and a perennial in my top 10 favorite plants. That says a lot! Ours are seed grown and beautiful as garden or pot specimen with many hundreds of leaves in each, rustling like grass off a thickened trunkā¦but wait, thereās more! As an already frost hardy yucca, this is a northern colony, plants of which have survived in USDA zone 5, making it one of the two frost hardiest tree yuccas.Ā
