Native to the southwestern United States, this dense, evergreen grass forms clumps of upright foliage, to 2 ft tall, with late summer-early fall flowers of white turning br standing above on stems to 3.5 ft tall. A nice presence in the dry garden. Requires full sun and well-drained soil. Needs little summer water once established. Tolerant of occasional summer irrigation in well drained soils. Frost hardy to 0F, USDA zone 7.
